This is something my aunts used to whip up, and I thought it was long gone. Surprise! I found it, and it’s even more delicious.

Even a basic cream cheese pie has its charms. The comforting simplicity of this dish has made it through several generations of my family. Its ideal combination of creamy sweetness and a tangy taste of cheese originated in the Midwest, when farming was a way of life. When I think of Sundays spent gathered around the kitchen table, laughing and telling tales with loved ones, I think of this pie. With each taste, you’ll feel embraced by this comforting meal, despite how simple it is to prepare.
Fruit compote or fresh berries are the perfect accompaniments to this cream cheese pie. Adding whipped cream or caramel sauce makes it a more decadent dessert. You may enjoy it as a dessert on its own, or you can serve it as a sweet ending to a heavy supper with a pot roast or roasted chicken.
