How to Clean and Deodorize a Sponge in the Microwave

Step 1

Take a bowl and fill it with about ¼ to ½ cup of clean warm water and put the sponge in the warm water to soak for about 5 to 10 minutes or until most of the liquid is absorbed. Once the soaking is complete, transfer the sponge to a paper towel or you can soak your sponge in a mixture of half a lemon juice and water and let it sit for at least 10 minutes.

2nd step

Now, put the damp sponge inside the microwave and then heat it on high for 1-2 minutes, making sure to keep an eye on your sponge to avoid it burning during the process, then let it cool for at least 10-15 minutes or until it is cool to the touch. Once cooled, wring out the sponge and then use it as you normally would and you are done.
